Sarah Louise Law

Still thinking of the incredible installation by Sarah Louise Law created in the Shirley Sherwood Gallery within Kew Gardens. Using flowers she amassed and preserved over the last six years for this installation titled ‘Life in Death’, consisting of around 375,000 flowers strung into 1,000 garlands.

Inspired by the ancient Egyptian preserved funeral garlands of Ramesses II. The physicality and sensuality of her site specific work plays with the relationship between humanity and nature. Each sculpture highlights the beauty of natural change. The work evolves as nature takes its course and offers an alternative concept of beauty; embracing preservation and decay.
